Overview of Services
AGS Rehab provides rehabilitation management services to individuals who receive funding from auto and life insurance companies and employers.
Rehabilitation management services can include the assessment or evaluation of a client's current situation, post-accident or injury, and recommendations for rehabilitation.
Components may include physician interview and medical assessment, employer interview and vocational assessment. Other components will include family/psychosocial, education, and employment history.
Assessments may include one contact (e.g. client) or various contacts such as physician, employer, or other specialists (i.e. psychologist, physiotherapist) who may be involved in the client's return to pre-accident/injury function.
The level of involvement and assessment will greatly vary from referral to referral and depend on the severity of injury and length of time the client has been off on claim.
The services offered will be unique to each individual referral (client), however will have a strong vocational slant and return to work focus. AGS Rehab provides two (2) main categories of services:

Occupational Therapy Assessment & Treatment Services: |
Clients are assessed and/or treated by Registered Occupational Therapists in their home.Services include assessments and therapeutic services related to personal care, activities of daily living, assistive devices, client safety, seating and mobility, cognition, workplace modifications, and other services as regulated by the College of Occupational Therapist of Ontario (COTO). Assessment can be related to housekeeping, childcare, home maintenance and personal care. The goal is the safe resumption of pre-injury activities. Objective measurements and clinical observations are included in a professional report. |
RN Medical Case Management Services: |
Clients are assessed by Registered Nurses in their home or institutions such as a hospitals or nursing homes. Services include medical assessments related to personal care, activities of daily living, client safety, physical function and other services a regulated by the College of Nurses. Assessments and medical coordination can include determining impairment, discharge planning and the coordination of services in catastrophic cases. |
Physiotherapy Assessment & Treatment Services: |
Clients are assessed and/or treated by Registered Physiotherapists in their home or in the community. Services include assessments and treatment related to functional level, range of motion, exercise, personal care, activities of daily living, assistive devices, client safety, seating and mobility, cognition, workplace modifications, and other services as regulated by the College of Physiotherapists. All treatment recommendations will adhere to current best practice guidelines. |
Future Care Cost Analysis: |
The evaluation of the medical, physical, attendant care, psychological environmental and mobility needs of a permanently impaired individual which also provides for their future, life-long needs. This analysis takes into account all areas of one's daily and future needs and is prepared by a certified specialist. |

Return to Work Coordination: |
Return to work coordination can include assisting the client with negotiating timely and safe re-entry into the workforce, whether that is with the same employer or a new employer or occupation.
Services include one-on-one job placement assistance to enable individuals to secure and maintain employment.
Creative job placement may begin with researching volunteer placements to referring to our pool of accommodating employers. |
Job Seeking Skills (JSS): |
A comprehensive vocational service which provides clients with a structured approach to job search, helping them to become more independent and confident in their job search.
The JSS will assist clients who have been released to return to work but do not have a clearly defined job goal or very little job searching skills/experience.
Four in-person sessions with the client are included and the AGS Rehab "Job Seeking Skills Handbook" is provided to the client as part of the service. A tour of the local employment resource centre and government funded services is also provided.
Linkages and referrals are made to various complimentary or low costs employment and networking programs |
Transferable Skills Analysis (TSA): |
An individual's skills, interests work experience and education are considered in conjunction with their physical abilities.
PRO3000 computerized program is used to determine an alternative list of suitable employment options based on the individual's vocational profile.
A detailed report is included. |
Vocational
Assessment: |
A comprehensive process which includes a battery of testing including aptitudes, achievement and interests, with the purpose of identifying individual characteristics, education, training and placement needs.
This serves as the basis for determining and planning an individual's vocational potential.
The comprehensive report includes recommendations aimed at maximizing the individual's vocational potential and identifying alternative and suitable employment options. |
Labor Market Survey (LMS): |
When a particular employment option has been identified for a person, and it is not clear if jobs exist in this particular area, a Labour Market Survey (LMS) is conducted.
Research includes contacting 10-15 employers in a particular field and inquiring about past and present hiring practices and employment opportunities. Hiring patterns and wage information is reviewed and documented.
Other sources of information include the Job Bank, Internet resources and employment periodicals.
This provides evidence of job availability in the marketplace in a specific geographical area. Service can be provided in additional to a Vocational Assessment or TSA. |
